Trichology is the specialized study of the hair and scalp, focusing on the structure, function, and disorders that affect hair growth and scalp health.
A Certified Trichologist is a trained hair specialist who evaluates and manages hair loss, thinning, excessive shedding, alopecia, and minor scalp disorders.
At NC Hair Loss Center, our licensed nurse and Certified Trichologist perform comprehensive hair and scalp examinations and advanced in-office testing to identify the underlying causes of your concerns and develop a personalized treatment plan to restore healthier hair and scalp function.

Our Comprehensive Hair & Scalp Examination is designed to identify the underlying causes of hair loss, thinning hair, excessive shedding, and scalp disorders.
During this in-depth evaluation, a licensed nurse and Certified Trichologist will review your medical history, current medications, laboratory results, nutritional status, and any health conditions that may be contributing to your hair concerns.
We also assess internal and external factors, including hormonal imbalances, stress, genetics, nutrition, environmental exposures, and hair care practices.
Your examination includes advanced in-office testing, such as digital scalp microscopy and other diagnostic assessments, to evaluate the scalp, hair follicles, and overall hair health.
Based on your findings, we develop a personalized and targeted treatment plan that may include both natural or clinically based therapies to help restore healthier hair and scalp function.
Every treatment plan is customized to address your unique needs and goals.

If an underlying medical condition is suspected, we may recommend evaluation by your physician or an appropriate specialist. Your overall health is always our top priority.
Once the underlying cause of your hair or scalp concern has been identified, we develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to your specific needs. When appropriate, we collaborate with your physician and other healthcare professionals to address both internal and external factors affecting your hair and scalp health.
